Blogging

I have enjoyed blogging! I have never had a blog before and I think that it was a great thing to learn. Technology is such an important part in today's world,; blogging is a great way to stay in touch with a great number of people. I found blogging to be a very useful reflection/communication tool. I would recommend others to try this out. It was a great way to keep track of the information that I have learned throughout the semester. Blogging could be useful in the classroom with students, teachers, and parents interactively blogging. I will consider using this as a tool in my classroom depending on the age level. I think that creating a blog that parents could visit and read about the week's activities in the art classroom would be beneficial and make them aware the work that their child is creating.

Digital portfolio resource

http://amby.com/kimeldorf/portfolio/p_mk-10.html

I chose this website because it was about portfolio creation tips. The first time I created a portfolio was when I was applying to get into the Art Education program at Buffalo State. I was unaware of what to put in my portfolio and how to display it; this site would have come in handy and made my life easier. I am going to use this site and follow the steps to create my digital portfolio. I think that it is important to remember less is more; I agree with the author of this article that people are more likely to look closely at your ten works of art than skim over your 25 pieces. This site says that it will take about two weeks to create a good portfolio; I am going to listen to them and begin thinking about mine now. I usually wait till the last minute, however, this is going to take some time. I am excited for this project because I have always wanted a good portfolio to show people. I have never took the time to create one; so I am glad that this is an assignment. I would also recommend this site to other artists, teachers, and students. This site offers a lot of information you may not think of or may just need answers for.

Three questions

A. How did you decide which blogs to review?
I chose the person above me in the list as directed and I chose two people in the class that I knew and wanted to see their opinions.

B. Why did you select the individual postings to comment on?
I chose to commment on the self portraits. This was my favorite blog to do and I wanted to look at what images others chose.

C. How could you use a Blog in your classroom as a communication tool? If not, why not?
I think that bogging could be used in a classroom as a way for not only teachers to look at students opinions but also for students to look at other classmates work. Just as we do in this classroom, I think blogging is a great way to communicate.

Websites

http://www.adobe.com/education/k12/adsc/

http://www.adobe.com/education/instruction/adsc/

I really enjoyed this website. I found a lot of good resources. In my classroom, I would use the Digital School Collection teacher resources. I found several lesson plans under the Visual and performing arts section. One that I liked was Digital Dali: Surrealism in art today, In this lesson, "students turn everyday digital photographs into surrealist-style artwork using Photoshop Elements. This activity helps students enhance their creativity and better understand surrealistic techniques by working with lighting, color, and movement to transform their pictures". I would use these lessons in my classroom.

http://www.apple.com/education/teachers-professors/online-tutorials.html

I think this website would be useful for finding out how to do new stuff. This resource will help to "learn, teach, and create". I have never used a mac before this class so the videos such as Mac OS X Leopard Basics is helpful to "explore the many ways Mac OS X can make your teaching and your life easier". I would recommend these videos to other teachers. I would use this website to teach students and have them watch the relevant videos.

I found the teacher development resource useful. I think that this is a great way to learn about teacher preparation, parent involvement, classroom management and many more ideas that need to be known. I would recommend this site to teachers that want to better themselves in the classroom. I would use this resource to learn how to improve my teaching skills.

Indesign videos

http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/

This week I watched Setting up a New Document, Using Layers, Using Control Panel, Customizing the Workspace, Working With Master Pages, Working With Objects, Working With Object Styles, Using the Text Wrap Panel. These videos are helpful especially when working in a new program. I feel that I need to watch the videos at least a couple times to fully understand the concepts. Some of the things that I learned that will help me are how to navigate a document using pages panel, I learned how control panel options work to adapt to the type of an object, such as an image text or table. I think that the thing that I will use the most is the information from the using the text wrap panel; I learned how to make text automatically flow around pictures or objects and how text works on the master page. I love working with text; that is why I think this video was most beneficial to me. I would recommend this site to teachers and also students working in In design.

Self-portrait inspiration: part 3

http://www.uncp.edu/home/acurtis/Courses/PhotojournMay05/TechNotes/PortraitsSelfPortraits.html

This online resource gives tips for creating a good self-portrait. This site gives a list of things to think about, things that you may know but often forget. I am going to use this site to check over my self-portrait, to see if I have thought about these things and to see areas I can improve. This site not only gives specific information for creating a self-portrait but also for a portrait of anyone or a portrait of someone else. I would recommend this site to teachers to show to their students.
